Charges have been field in the sexual assault at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home that allegedly took place in August of 2016.

WTAJ first learned of the alleged assault back in March after 39 employees at the home were suspended. A Department of Health report detailed the incident and cited the veterans home for failing to maintain a safe environment for residents.

According to police, 78 year old Robert Valentine is being charged with aggravated indecent assault more than year after the alleged incident took place.

The report details the night of the incident when a nurse discovered Valentine in another residents room. The nurse allegedly found Valentine with his hand down the female’s residents pants while he was also exposed.

Police say the resident asked Valentine to stop but he allegedly continued the assault until he was discovered by the nurse.

The Department of Health Report revealed that Valentine had been reported previously for inappropriate contact with female residents as well as the victim before the August assault. It also says that Valentine has been diagnosed with dementia and with schizophrenia.
