A teacher in Centre County is training for the Boston Marathon.

Doug Schunk is a chemistry teacher at the State College Area High School.

He’s been running for about three years now –and is set to show what he’s got at the world’s oldest marathon event.

Schunk will be running in a group made up of 13 teachers from across the United States, and he hopes he makes Central PA proud.

“Being able to do this as part of a charity and represent my community, my students, my fellow colleagues, just means it’s going to be that much more meaningful for me,” Schunk said.

The Boston Marathon stretches over 26 miles and will take place this year on Monday, April 16th.
