CBD store opens in Clearfield County

HOUTZDALE, CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ)– The owners of a new CBD store in Houtzdale say it’s tailored to everyone, especially those on prescription medicines.

Catherine Burns owns a Medicare insurance agency. She noticed many of her clients turn to CBD products.

“A lot of them were dropping off some of their medications,” Burns said. “I’m not saying it eliminates the need for medication, it does not, but I was watching what was happening.”

After doing some research, Burns and her family decided to open up three CBD stores– including one right in Houtzdale.

They chose the spot because of the older population in Clearfield County.

“We’re sort of in the nucleus of that, right in the center, and we’re really out to help everyone we can,” owner Mike DeAngelo said.

CBD is hemp-based and contains little to no THC, the drug found in marijuana.

The sale of help products became legal when Congress passed the 2018 Farm Bill.

It’s often used to ease symptoms of depression, anxiety, pain and epilepsy.

“We’re primarily trying to get with less prescriptions and less medicines, go the natural way,” DeAngelo said.

The store will be celebrating its grand opening all weekend.

Another location in Altoona is planned to open in two weeks.
