After severe flooding, Cambria County officials are looking for money to pay for the damage. Especially, in the city of Johnstown.

County and Johnstown officials will apply for flood damage funding after flash flooding hit the area on June 15 and 16. The county’s 911 center received 134 storm-related calls over those two days. Eighty-four calls came from Johnstown.

“We’ll go back through, look at a damage assessment and see if we can meet a damage cost threshold that we need to meet at the PEMA or state level,” said Allen Kline, the interim executive director for Cambria County Emergency Services.

The county needs to meet a $500,000 damage threshold to fulfill state requirements. Emergency officials will perform damage assessments and submit the request in the next few weeks.
