A local organization is working to bring high speed internet to rural parts of our area.

The Rural Broadband Co-op was started about a year ago in Mill Creek to make it possible for smaller towns to have internet access.

They’re currently working to build a 120-foot tall tower that’s power by solar panels to expand access in Huntingdon County.

One board member says their mission is bigger than that.

“Let’s say you live in a small town or an area where you have no high speed internet service at all, if you come to us we’ll help you rally a co-op in your area,” Board member Dwight Rittenhouse said.

They’re hoping their current project will be up and running in the next three months.
