UPDATE 5:30 p.m.: Michael Bonatucci was sentenced to 30 days to six months in prison, a $1,500 fine and no contact with the Piazza’s or speaking about the fraternity hazing case on social media.
Bonatucci,21, faced three counts of hazing and one count of conspiracy to commit hazing.
Two Beta Theta Pi frat brothers were sentenced today.
Joshua Kurczewski was sentenced to three to nine months in prison that will begin on May 17, one week after his finals. He will have one-year probation, a $2,250 fine and also 100 hours of community service.
Kurczewski, 20, faced one count of conspiracy to commit hazing, and one count of hazing not related to the Piazza death.
Joseph Sala was sentenced to three months of house arrest, two years and seven months probation, a $1,500 fine and 100 hours of community service.
Sala, 20, the assistant to the pledge master on the night of Piazza’s death, plead guilty to three counts of hazing and one count of conspiracy to commit hazing.
The courtroom has taken a short recess and we will update the story as the other two frat brothers are sentenced. We will have more information tonight at 5 p.m.
