UPDATE: I-99 at the Route 22 interchange is back open after two women from Johnstown were killed in a three-car crash Monday evening, according to Blair County Coroner Patty Ross.

It happened along Mile Marker 28.5 in Allegheny Township.

Ross said 37-year-old Sabrina Fowler, from Johnstown, and 52-year-old Valerie Jenkins, from Johnstown, were passengers in a vehicle that crossed the median and hit a car head-on. The driver survived the crash and is in stable condition at UPMC Altoona. Fowler and Jenkins died from their injuries.

A Kentucky mother who was returning her daughter to Penn State was driving the car that was hit head-on. Both the mother and daughter are being treated at UPMC Altoona.

A third car was also involved, but no one was treated from that car.

Pennsylvania State Police Hollidaysburg, AMED, Allegheny Township Fire, and Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees assisting with the investigation.
