Folks in Altoona broke a sweat to help local veterans.
Sunday, the 5th annual Sweat for Vets Challenge was held at the Brush Mountain Sportsman’s Club.
There was a 2 mile walk and a 5K and 10K run.
The non-profit hoped to raise more than $100,000 to help local veterans with financial, mental health and educational needs.
One of the coordinators said it’s great to see the community give back.
“I hope they walk away with the idea in the back of their head that they want to use their lives to serve something greater than themselves. Not everybody can be in the armed forces but everyone can serve,” said Volunteer Coordinator Scott Brenneman.
The Sweat for Vets groups is already looking for volunteers for next year.
