Body found believed to be of missing man

Officials are waiting on results from the Centre County Coroner, to identify whether or not a body that was found is a missing man.

Charles Hunt was reported missing Tuesday, but hadn’t been seen since July 4. State College Police, along with several other emergency crews started searching for Hunt near the Mount Nittany Middle School early Wednesday morning, after they became aware that a car – belonging to Hunt – was towed near the school on July 5.

The search spanned about five or six football fields in length.

A neighbor told us that Hunt lived alone, but when she noticed his car was gone she just assumed he was out of town. His bank questioned where he was when he didn’t show up for his weekly visit.

Officials urge residents to let them know if you are concerned about a person’s whereabouts.

“If you are concerned for someone, to certainly let us know, report it, and then we can start looking into it,” Captain Matthew Wilson, of the State College Police Department, said.

A neighbor described Hunt as a kind man, but that he had a strained relationship with his family.

The coroner is looking at dental records to make an official identification.
