The Centre County commissioners approved a 5 year contract that will provide body cameras to officers at the Centre County Prison.
The prison already has security cameras, but officials say the body cams will provide a clearer view of activity in the prison.
That improved vantage point includes a closer look inside cells.
They also hope that the body cams will hold both officers and inmates accountable for their actions.
The contract will give officers updated equipment every 30 months.
The initial cost of the cameras is over $11,000 for the first year and just under $5,000 for the remaining 4 years.
