A local community is looking to go back to school a little easier.
The Verizon Wireless Zone in Tyrone hosted a Back to School Block Party on Logan Avenue Sunday. Almost 500 backpacks filled with school supplies were given out to kids.
“When you’re giving the kids the backpacks and you get to see the smiles on their faces, and know how much it means to them there’s nothing better than that,” Wireless Zone Owner John Russell said.
Kids also got to enjoy free crafts, games, food, a fire truck and a mobile library.
