26 years later, Blair County continues to come together to honor the fallen heroes that have served our community.

With packed bleachers, the community was out in full force for Thursday’s service.
Musical performances and prayer highlighted the evening as those who paid the ultimate sacrifice were remembered.

Duncansville Police Chief Jim Ott organizes the event every year with the Law Enforcement Officer Memorial Foundation Inc. He said of the event, “We need to make sure that we recognize them each and every year. We’re proud of the fact that in this county, we’re one of the few that has this type of memorial foundation available that we can actually recognize these officers.”

Trooper Landon Weaver’s parents were in attendance as their son’s name was immortalized on the statue outside of the Blair County Courthouse. His place on the memorial will make sure his sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Ott explained, “This year, sadly, we had to recognize Landon Weaver as a fallen brother. We put him on the wall and will recognize daily and annually at our services he’ll be honored.”

Law enforcement from across the county came to pay respect to their fallen comrades but were also thanked for their service to the community.

The annual service is also designed to show current officers that their bravery and service will always be remembered. Ott detailed, “We have this every year. We try to get the officer’s together to make sure that they remember that if something happens to one of us, our brothers and sisters are going to remember us. This organization is going to remember us. We need to make sure their life wasn’t gone for nothing.”

The names of the fallen are etched in stone, never to be forgotten.
