Drivers in Blair County will hit a detour starting Sunday, July 15.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that prime contractor Francis J. Palo, Inc. of Clarion, will implement a detour on Route 3013 (Dunnings Highway).
The 8.1 mile detour will follow Route 3013 (Dunnings Highway), PA 164 to PA 36 (Charger Highway) to US 22 and to Route 3013 (Old US 22).
The road will be closed to begin work on the Newry Bridge Replacement Project in Blair and Freedom Townships. Work on this project includes the replacement of the existing structure with a single span composite steel I-Beam bridge. Drainage and guide rail upgrades will also take place, along with minor roadway approach work.
There will also be some sidewalk installation along the west side of the bridge towards Newry, as well as curb and curb gutter installed on the Leighty’s side of the roadway.
The bridge is scheduled to re-open Sunday, July 29.
