Shootings at churches and other religious facilities in the United States have prompted a local county to offer guidance to residents.
The Bedford United Methodist Church will be the site of an active shooter presentation on May 29th.
The event is open to all churches, synagogues, temples, mosques, and other houses of worship.
Religious leaders and members of their congregations are welcome.
The main presenter will be a protective security adviser from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
“This is not going to be about carrying guns, shooting guns in a confined space this is going to be a lot of preparation ahead of time, it’s going to be a lot of this is how we’re going to set up the process to protect ourselves just in case,” said Bedford County EMA Director David Cubbison.
It’s free, but you do need to pre-register with the Bedford County Emergency Management Agency 814-623-9117.
