Three people are still recovering from a school van crash earlier this month.
So the community is coming together help.

The annual Ben Friedl Memorial basketball pits school Seniors and teacher against each other.

This year they are working to help a Dubois Area School District driver, school aid and student who were involved in a school van crash.

So they’re using the game and a raffle to help.

Emily Fillman is a teacher of the twelve-year old boy who was in the crash.

“A sweetheart, he always has a good attitude and he’s really happy,” Fillman, said.  “We miss him at school.”

The community is hoping the money raise from the game and raffle can help.
The Ben Friedl Memorial basketball game typically raises money for a scholarship for a dubois high school Senior.

Ben Friedle was a math teacher at DuBois area high school who died in a car crash in 2008.

“I think that Ben would think this is wonderful, he was that kind of teacher, he would have thought this would be a wonderful event and I think he would have thought that it was a wonderful cause tonight,” Jackie Norris, Co-Advisor for the Student Council at DuBois Area Senior High School, said.

If you weren’t able to make it to the auction or basketball game tonight you can stop by the district office for the DuBois Area School District and make a donation to the victims.
