A public addiction forum was held in Johnstown Friday evening. Local business owners learned how to administer Narcan and received free kits with the opiate-reversal drug.
Accessible Recovery Services hosted the event. Chief Medical Officer Frank Kunkal, MD spoke about the opioid epidemic. He also gave a demonstration on how to use Narcan. Kits with Naloxone, nasal injectors and instructions were handed out for free.
Kunkal hopes other restaurants and bars keep Narcan in their restrooms because it could save lives.
“If people are going to do drugs in their bathroom, number one: it’s not their fault. Number two: it’s better to save a life than to have to call the coroner,” said Kunkal.
