Attorneys accuse Piazza family of lying

BELLEFONTE, CENTRE COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — There’s been a new development in the Penn State Beta Theta Pi fraternity hazing case.

The lawyers for the fraternity’s former president Brendan Young and pledge master Daniel Casey, filed a motion last month claiming the Piazza’s violated a gag order by making false statements about the case during interviews with the media.

Those lawyers asked a judge to issue a new order, limiting public statements by the Piazza’s and those speaking for them.

The Piazza’s attorney Tom Kline filed a response claiming that the motion cites no specific language that violates the gag order, and that many of the statements were allegedly not made by the Piazza’s but former District Attorney Stacy Parks-Miller.

A judge will hear the arguments by the attorneys for Young, Casey, and the Piazza’s next Tuesday at the Centre County Courthouse.
