A convicted arsonist who has been behind bars since 1998 has been granted bail.
IN 1998 Christopher Rodland was sentenced to 23 to 69 years in prison after being convicted of setting at least 22 fires in Blair County.
He admitted to setting them and apologized in court, but then said his testimony was coerced.
Now he has been granted bail, while his case is waiting the appeal to a higher court.
Rodland is still behind bars as his bail is being processed. He was most recently attached to SCI Benner in Centre County and was temporarily sent to the Blair County Prison.
The Blair County District Attorney, Rich Consiglio thinks Rodland could be a flight risk, or a risk to the community. He’s trying to stop Rodland from getting out.
He tells WTAJ-TV “We’re concerned about him getting out at all . We think he is a career criminal and that he is a danger to the community so we’re going to try to see if we can get another hearing on this matter.”
