Altoona Police are searching for a man they say robbed the Sunoco Mini Mart on Tuesday night.

The owners of the shop on 7th Avenue continue to recover from that terrifying moment when a man holding a gun came into their store.

The convenience store was five minutes from closing when the suspect entered the store holding a black handgun.

“Obviously, the victims were very shaken over this. It’s a very traumatizing event that happened to them,” Sergeant Matt Plummer said

Sergeant Plummer said the owners of the store describe the suspect as a black male wearing a black puffy winter coat, blank pants, black boots, and a ski mask covering his face.

The man took about $600 in cash.

“We’re asking everyone to have respect for the victims in this incident, which are the owners of the gas station. Obviously, this is very traumatic to them. You know, it’s not everyday that someone has a firearm pointed in their face,” Sergeant Plummer said.

Police said the suspect ran from the scene on foot towards 18th street in the alley directly behind the Sunoco.

Officials asked anyone who lives near the gas station here on 7th Avenue if they have a surveillance system for their home or business, check the footage from Tuesday night.

They said any video of the suspect is helpful to see which direction he went and could help identify him.
