Altoona restaurant raises money for fallen state trooper

People in Altoona enjoyed a meal with a meaning behind it Tuesday night.

Texas Roadhouse honored fallen trooper Landon Weaver. Trooper Weaver died in the line of duty in December 2016.

“He was a role model on this job,” Jake Weibley, from PSP Bedford, said. “He was the kind of guy you wanted to be around. Positive vibes all the time.”

It’s a heartbreaking story that shook the region. The community is now showing his loved ones and fellow officers that trooper Weaver’s memory will stay alive.

“Every year I made a promise to Macy and state police that we are going to do a fundraiser in trooper Weaver’s honor,” Doug Bayad, managing partner at Texas Roadhouse, said.

Year after year, Texas Roadhouse will be donating part of their sales to the Troopers Helping Troopers Foundation. This year, they’re giving 20 percent.

“If they have this for the next 50 years I can guarantee I’m going to be here for the next 50 years showing support to Trooper Weaver and his family if they need anything,” Weibley said.

Last year the restaurant donated close to $2,000 to the foundation. They hope to donate the same amount this year.
