The city of Altoona is holding a special event to celebrate leaving behind Act 47.
Today at 5 p.m. Dennis Davin, the State Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary, will join city officials at the Devorris Downtown Center for the signing of an order which will remove Altoona from Act 47.
City leaders made the decision to exit Act 47 last month, and the signing of that administrative order will make Altoona the fastest city in Pennsylvania, to leave behind distressed city status.
