Altoona Area Junior High School art students spent Tuesday afternoon giving away hand-made mugs for a good cause.
They were set up at the Clay Cup in Downtown Altoona.
Customers not only got a free mug, but also a free coffee.
Students said using a reusable cup instead of a disposable one helps reduce waste.
“It’s definitely about the environment,” Gianna Ciavarella said. “We’re definitely putting an impact on what we use and the trash we make each year. This is definitely helping us cut down on the usage of plastic and disposable things.”
We’re told about 50 students helped make the mugs. Around 200 were given away.
The project was made possible through a grant from the AASD Foundation.
