The Altoona Area School Board voted to pass a new budget by a 5-4 vote.
The $104 million spending plan includes a tax increase of 0.47 mills. The district says homeowners on average will pay about $54 dollars more per year.
The tax hike is projected to create $1.5 million in revenue, and the budget was passed with an estimated $7.5 million deficit.
