With winter weather coming our way, it’s important that all drivers on the road are prepared.
AARP offers a driver’s safety course that focuses on all aspects of driving, from road signs to driving in inclement weather.
Bob Deweese started teaching the course 14 years ago. He said that it’s natural for people to relearn the do’s and don’ts of the road.
“Our bodies are changing, our cars are changing, roads are changing, state laws are changing,” Deweese said.
Jim Rhodes and his wife Kathy realized how important the refresher course was after the first class. He said that people should prep for trips ahead of time and check the weather before they leave.
Especially with winter storms approaching, now is the time for everyone to remember what to do when driving through the snow.
Deweese encouraged everyone to take the extra step and be careful on slick, snowy roads.
“Exercise caution. Be alert. Scan the area, that is, keep your head on a swivel,” Deweese said.
Class participants also get at least five percent off of their auto insurance.
