AAA officials say gas prices could soon be dropping

It has been an expensive summer for drivers as gas prices climbed to a four year high.

On average, a gallon is up nearly $0.50 compared to this time last year. However, AAA officials said relief is on the way.

“The good news for consumers is gas prices are going to be cheaper this fall,” Jeanette Casselano, from AAA, said. “Typically in the fall we do see gas prices drop. That’s because we see demand going down and people are done taking their summer road trips.”

Officials also said refineries are also able to switch to a winter blend this month, which is cheaper to produce. In a new report, AAA predicts those factors will help push prices down about $0.13/gallon in the coming weeks.
