Therapy dogs help children and adults dealing with diabetes, autism, epilepsy, and other medical conditions. Now, at one school, the entire class is getting some support from a small pup.

One little lady at Patriot Elementary earns praise from teachers and students.

“She’s definitely the most popular girl in the school said, 2nd grade teacher, Kelly Vornbrock.

Not your stereotypical, hyper terrier, this Westie has the patience to be a perfect therapy dog.

As Vornbrock who’s also Phoebe’s owner explained, “Her vest is her sign she has to go to work, When I put her vest on she’s a completely dog, At home, I still see a lot of the puppy behavior”

Phoebe comes to work with  Vornbrock a least a couple times a week. She says the pup helps teach respect.

“Their voice level has to be a little bit quieter because she has sensitive ears. They know they have to pick up their pencils and their crayons,”  Vornbrock said.

After all,  fallen markers could end up with nibble marks. And Phoebe is a friendly face when a student needs it.

One little girl said, “You’re having a hard time, you might go over to the chill chair and Phoebe might come over.”

“I’ve seen her sit with students who have autism when they’re starting to feel really overwhelmed, she will go over and sit under their chair and they’ll just reach down and pet her,”  Vornbrock said.

Her calmness in the sometimes chaotic classroom is amazing.
