Established in 1933, Tom and Joe’s has been an Altoona Staple.
On the 1200 block of 13 Ave in Altoona, Tom and Joe’s originally set up shop across the street. They moved to the current location of 1201 13th Avenue in the 1950’s. Still in the restaurant today are elements from the 1956 renovation. This includes jukeboxes, the grill, the counter, and some of the decorative signage. They also have a toaster that is one of the oldest models still running.
Currently on their 3rd generation of family ownership, staff and regular customers have all become a part of the family. Friday morning, our Jordan Tracy got to learn a little about that family and enjoyed some breakfast.
