The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund says it’s going to have to cut the awards the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks are getting.
According to the VCF’s 7th annual status report, they gave out a record high of almost $1.5 billion in awards in 2018.
That leaves less than $2.4 billion dollars left to pay all claims until December 18th, 2020.
The VCF says that’s not enough money to continue paying out awards at the current levels, so they are reducing the amount being paid out across the board.
The VCF says that means significant reductions for all pending claims, no matter when those claims were filed.
