A Tyrone boy just celebrated his 8th birthday, but instead of gifts he wanted something a little different.

Brenson Davis asked for donations to help with medical expenses for his cousin Liam. The 4-year-old is currently battling leukemia.

“I just don’t want him to get more sick because then his parents and grandparents will be sad and I don’t want them to be sad,” Brenson told us.

Brenson thought he would end up with a couple hundred dollars, but with help from his school and local businesses he raised $1,700.

“I was thinking that it would be like $500 or something like that,” he said. “I wasn’t really thinking it was going that high and it went higher and higher.”

Now the 8-year-old gets to unwrap a smile on Liam’s face, and that’s the best gift he could ever ask for.

“I want him to be happy,” Brenson explained.

Brenson said he’s going to continue raising money for kids in need. He told us he’s going to have another donation party for his birthday next year.
