4th annual Rolling Remembrance honors fallen heroes

The 4th annual PepsiCo Rolling Remembrance relay made a stop in Johnstown on Thursday, to honor fallen heroes and their families.

A Pepsi truck left Seattle, Wa. at the end of April, carrying the “Rolling Remembrance” flag that was originally flown on a UH-60M Blackhawk Helicopter in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom 2012.

At each of the 50 different relay stops, military veterans will pass the flag to one another, before continuing on their trip.

In Johnstown, the held a cookout and ceremony for Gold Star Families.

“Means a lot to people like me because we don’t have our loved ones now, which is our daughter Beverly. But just people  remembering her makes so much of a difference,” said Connie Clark, a Gold Star mother.

The relay raises awareness and money for the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, which raises money to give scholarships to Gold Star children.

Over the past three years, “Rolling Remembrance” has raised more than $360,000 for Fallen Patriots, with $203,000 coming from 2017’s campaign.
