Two people, including a 3-year-old boy are in the hospital after a driver under the influence of drugs rear-ended their vehicle.

It happened just after 5 p.m. Wednesday on Birmingham Pike in Warriors Mark Township.

According to police, a Honda Fit was turning when a Chevy Uplander rear-ended it, causing the car to spin several times.

The driver of the Honda wasn’t injured, but a woman and a 3-year-old were seriously hurt.

The child was flown to Pittsburgh for treatment for a fractured skull and internal bleeding.

The woman was taken to UPMC Altoona where she had surgery for internal bleeding in her abdomen and a blood clot, caused by the crash.

The driver of the Uplander, Dawn Elensky from Huntingdon, failed a sobriety test and was taken into custody.

Police are still investigating.
