A 12-year-old is being credited with helping provide a description that lead to the arrest of a local man.

Police say the boy was home Wednesday evening when 35-year-old Jason Moninger allegedly broke into the home along Wharton Avenue in the Lakemont section of Altoona.

The boy hid behind a door before confronting the Moninger, who then ran away.

When the boy’s parents got back home, he described the man who was later identified as Moninger.

Police then tracked him down and arrested him. He was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, and criminal attempt theft.

Moninger is currently in the Blair County Prison awaiting arraignment.
