Communication barriers are putting the preliminary hearing for Oscar Hernandez on hold until further notice.

Oscar Hernandez is accused of murdering his girlfriend and kidnapping his daughter in Bridgeport, CT.

On Wednesday morning he was in courtroom ‘1’ but later left to another room.

Court officials said he was meeting with his attorney to discuss having an interpreter.

Hernandez is an undocumented  immigrant from El Salvador and primarily speaks Spanish.

It is court policy to attend the scheduled preliminary hearing before assigning an interpreter.

In Centre County he is facing felony charges including fleeing and eluding police, as well as child endangerment.

On Friday Hernandez lead police on a high-speed chase on I-99, reaching up to 125 mph before crashing in Benner Township.

His daughter was in that car, but after being checked by hospital officials she was safely reunited with family in Connecticut

WTAJ reached out to his public defender in regards to how this might impact is extradition to Connecticut.

His public defender had no comment.
