The 50th annual Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts is underway in State College.
It kicked off with Children and Youth Day Wednesday, where hundreds of kids showcased their talents through art.
This year’s Children and Youth Sidewalk Sale featured 140 kid artist booths, with up to three kids per booth.
Walking from booth to booth, you can’t help but be impressed. Some kids participate for fun, others hope the festival could jump start careers.
“I get tons of good feedback and everyone is super nice,” Drew Spielvogel, who is selling freehand drawings, said. “I’m getting my name out there.”
Spielvogel is a State High student. He’s saving the money he’s made from three years at the festival for school. His dream is to attend the Rhode Island School of Design.
“I work from photographs, everything is freehand,” he said. “My grandpa was a big collector of photo realistic art, so he really inspired me to start drawing.”
The Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts sidewalk sale and exhibition will kick off Thursday at 10:00 a.m. For more information about the festival, click here.
