Keystone Pipeline decision could benefit industries in Pennsylvania

President Trump’s decision to resurrect the Keystone XL Pipeline, could benefit manufacturing industries in Pennsylvania.

The Keystone Project is one of two pipeline projects previously rejected under the Obama Administration.

An employer from a Somerset County manufacturing facility said he foresees a revitalization of industry for the pipeline in our region.

“Maybe our gas is going to be less expensive, which would be wonderful, but the fact that oil and gas isn’t going to be as constrained as in the past, energy is a big part of our business,” Shawn Kaufman, human resources director at Riggs Industries, said. “With this facility, building vehicles to haul coal so it’s going to have a very good impact on us.”

Other local manufacturers find the plan to be exciting, but the project is causing controversy among environmentalists.
