It has been nearly a month now since the tragic shooting death of Pennsylvania State Trooper Landon Weaver in Huntingdon County.
District Attorney David Smith announced Friday that the investigation into all matters related to the December 30th shooting is still on-going. Smith said in a statement that based on the preliminary review of the evidence, the actions by the state police that night were justified.
As part of the investigation, the State Police Forensics Services Unit has processed both scenes. They’ve been photographed, mapped and processed. Witnesses and other parties have also been interviewed. Investigators will brief the Huntingdon County D.A. once the investigations have been completed. No one from the Pennsylvania State Police Huntingdon Barracks is working on the investigation.
Smith stated, “we recognize the highly sensitive nature of the circumstances and the public’s desire to have answers and action in a timely fashion. It is equally important as a matter of truth and justice tat we get it right.”
There’s no timetable on any final decision or when the final determinations will be made public.
