The investigations continue Monday, into two separate shootings near the Indiana University of Pennsylvania campus over the weekend. According to the Indiana borough Chief William Sutton,  both of the suspects have been apprehended, but there is still much to learn about what went down in two separate shootings that injured three and killed one. Police do not believe the two incidents are related.

However, Sutton says the shootings took place during student planned St. Patrick’s Day festivities over the weekend. While the shootings were not directly related to the planned celebrations, according to Sutton, they impacted the way police responded. Sutton says they needed man power to respond to the two shootings which occurred less than an hour from each other, while also maintaining a strong amount of police downtown to monitor the festivities.

Meanwhile, the University says student safety was it’s number one priority when it was made aware of the incidents. The University used it’s alert system, which sends students texts and email to notify them of any potential threats.
