A male elk killed illegally near Karthaus in 2014 is temporarily on display in Elk County.

The manager of a Great Elk Tour says the bull is the largest of six elk in his rolling museum.

He says the state lent it to him last October and he’s been taking his truck all around the country, including a stop in Harrisburg.

Right now, it’s at the new parking area on Winslow Hill Road until Sunday, and it’s attracting visitors who are there for the rut season.

“They’re angry about it. Most people, it angers them. They don’t like it at all. It’s a horrible thing that it had to be poached. For an animal like that to be stolen from the residents of Pennsylvania was a shame,” says Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation tour manager Dave Meehan.

Meehan says he has one more stop planned in Las Vegas before turning the elk head over to go to the Clearfield County courthouse. He says it was a 460-inch elk.
