About 900 local hospital workers were voting Thursday on a new 3-year wage contract. The nurses, dietary and other employees at Mount Nittany Medical Center are members of SEIU healthcare.
Their current contract expired a week ago today. Union members had voted to authorize a 10-day strike notice, if contract talks had broken down, but the two sides reached a tentative agreement on Tuesday.
A series of meetings and votes were being held in State College on Thursday, with the final one scheduled for 8 pm. The union expects to release results of the balloting around 9:30 pm
