The contract for about 900 area hospital workers is up Thursday, but the union employees won’t be walking off the job. Representatives for Mt. Nittany Medical Center and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Healthcare have set up another negotiating session for next week.
In the meantime, registered nurses, dietary, and other union members will continue to work under their current contract. SEIU members reportedly voted last week to give their negotiating team the power to issue a strike notice, if talks broke down.
