About 900 local hospital workers will vote next week on a new wage contract. SEIU Healthcare, the union representing nurses, dietary and other employees at Mount Nittany Medical Center, says the two sides will hold a critical negotiating session on Tuesday. Then, union members will vote Thursday on the hospital’s contract offer.
The union accuses Mount Nittany of trying to make retirement benefits less secure, and healthcare, less affordable. The hospital calls its compensation and benefit package highly competitive.
The previous contract expired on Thursday.
