An area hospital now has new, temporary leadership. Stephen Gildea has resigned as CEO of Tyrone Regional Health Network. The hospital’s board of directors says Chief Nursing Officer Sharon Fisher, is  serving as interim CEO while a search is underway to fill the top spot.

In a written statement, the board praised Gildea for his leadership, saying it led to growth of the hospital’s staff and services, and that activity in most of the facility increased

According to the board, Gildea, who served as CEO since 2009, left for personal reasons.

Board President Kelly Wike said the current leadership change does not affect the hospital’s  negotiations to become a member of Penn State Health. “this was a strategic decision at the board level and we are staying on course.”
