Help for flood victims

The American Red Cross opened a service center today at the Third Ward Fire Station at Park and Martin Streets, in Clearfield. The center is open from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Operating hours for Monday will be announced.

Red Cross volunteers will be available to review the needs of local residents who have been affected by the flooding which began Thursday night.

Walk-ins are welcome to visit the service center during the operating hours, but residents can call 814-371-2750, ext. 1, if unable to travel.

“The mission of the Red Cross is to assist people who have been affected by disasters,” said Nicholas Garbacz, regional disaster officer for the American Red Cross of Western Pennsylvania. “Red Cross volunteers are available at the service center to help local residents by assessing their needs and offering assistance. We urge local residents to take advantage of this help.”
