Some area schools are in line for a little extra cash to promote health and wellness programs. They’re among 55 schools in Pennsylvania and West Virginia to share in $326,000 in grants from the HighMark Foundation.
Hope For Hyndman Charter School and Tussey Mountain Junior and Senior High, in Bedford County, East Side and West Side Elementary in Johnstown, Cambria County, Moshannon Valley Elementary School in Clearfield County, and Tyrone Area Middle School will benefit from the program.
The grants awarded in our region range from $2500 to $8600. HighMark says the funding is slated to support evidence-based programs that address one of four priority areas: bullying prevention, child injury prevention, healthy eating and physical activity, or environmental health.
