New tax information for Blair County was released last summer, but one community group was in court Tuesday to fight the reassessment certification.

In the courtroom, were many of the Blair County residents upset with their reassessed property values.

The Blair County Citizens for Accurate Reassessment submitted a petition for an injunction, essentially asking for reassessment to be completely thrown out the window, asking for more time for the formal appeals process.

Part of their argument is that the process was not done fairly and many people could face serious trouble with high reassessed values and in some extreme cases, including those who may owe the bank for their home and could face foreclosure this year if they can’t afford their payments.

Presiding Judge Elizabeth Doyle ruled the court will reconvene Jan. 19.  The citizens group must present precedence to establish their case, satisfying the six criteria required to approve their petition.
