Some charities in Elk County hope the spending spirit of Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, will carry over to today.
We were there as AmeriCorps VISTA workers helped prepare for Giving Tuesday at the Franklin Center in St. Marys.
Organizers say they raised about $3,000 last year, and will split the money among 7 charities. This is their second year to participate in the nationwide donation challenge. bri pursley, headwaters charitable trust
“It was kind of a joint effort between partners. It’s a global movement and we just kind of wanted to bring it to the rural area and get some non-profits in on it and spread the word on Giving Tuesday,” says Bri Purlsey with Headwaters Charitable Trust and VISTA.
The event with Santa pictures for kids was set for 3 to 5 p.m. with another event with music at Elk County Council on the Arts in Ridgway from 5 to 8 p.m. Organizers hope to double last year’s totals.
