A website claims it received information on Penn State Athletics’ plans to renovate Beaver Stadium.  Thursday morning, BackLasch.com released some of those details on Twitter.

WTAJ contacted a University official who would not confirm the report. A short time later the link to that story on BackLasch.com was no longer available.

The story alleges, among other things, a massive renovation of Beaver Stadium which would include new luxury suites, replacing stadium bleachers with chair backs, and new bathrooms and concession stands.

This summer, Penn State Athletics, along with the design firm – Populous, completed a facilities master plan. The plan examined all of the athletic facilities on-campus, with most of the attention focused on the university’s beloved landmark.

Officials said they want to enhance the game-day experience for fans.

Improving concessions, bathrooms, and making the venue useful for year-round events were examples of what was on the table.

WTAJ spoke to some fans during the Blue White weekend in April, some were concerned the plans could put the tradition of Penn State at risk.

“I don’t see the noise being made for everything they’re talking about,” Len Stairs, a 1966 Penn State graduate said.

“Penn State has a lot of tradition and the people, that s what makes Penn State so special,” Thomasene Zumlinski said.
