Pennsylvania’s Health and Aging secretaries unveiled  a pilot program that will offer free hepatitis C medicine to people with that infection and HIV.

The $13 million dollar , 6-month pilot project  will be made available to hundreds of low-income Pennsylvanians with a dual diagnosis. Funding for the program will come from PACE, which offers low cost prescription coverage to qualified residents 65 and over.

Patients eligible for or enrolled in other prescription plans must use those benefits before applying for the new coverage.
