A former Altoona Police Officer, charged with excessive force, continues to maintain his innocence this morning.
30-year-old Mark Sprouse is on trial this week facing charges in connection to a February 2015 incident, when he allegedly kicked a prisoner in the head.
The defense says Sprouse was following department guidelines for use of force and the person in custody was drunk and being combative with officers.
