Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville is recruiting folks to join its volunteer program in 2017.

The number of visits to the memorial continue to go up each year. Nearly 330,000 people came last year during the peek visitation months from April to October. Volunteers will work with the Flight 93 rangers to provide services to the public such as giving directions, site orientation and answering basic questions.

“This recruitment effort is being conducted to support the strong work of our knowledgeable Ambassadors and the volunteer greeters who welcome and orient the public daily at Flight 93,” said Superintendent Stephen Clark. “Our current volunteers continue to be the key to operating the memorial successfully and meeting the ongoing expectations of the visitor.”

Knowledge of the Flight 93 story and National Memorial is beneficial, but it is not required to volunteer. Training will be offered in the spring to all new volunteers. Anyone looking for more information or interested in joining the volunteer program for 2017, please call or e-mail memorial headquarters to request an application.
